Draw straws? Flip coins? Ouija Board?

A few things are well mapped out.

Vermont this weekend.

Rachel and me.

Syl (veteran) and Denny (first timer) crewing.

Warm weather and possibly the first time Rachel and I will get together to ride this season without getting rained on.

That’s it.  Everything else is still subject to change.

Am thinking Sarge and Ace in the 100.  Still debating which of us will ride which horse.  Each time I sell myself on one horse/rider combination, I start considering a million reasons why the other combo is wiser.  A coin flip may be in order.

Ned is on stand-by and looking grand for a go at the 50 with Rachel — he’s done the VT 100 twice and I’ve already promised him that I won’t ask him to pound down 100 miles of that trail again, ever.  He doesn’t owe me that, and besides, the weather is looking rather Ned-challenging (warm and humid).

I think this summer is all about getting moi, Control Freak that I am, to go with the flow and get comfortable with last minute decision-making.

So far I am earning a big fat “FAIL” on doing so with casual grace and calm, but the powers-that-be keep on presenting me with these situations and I’m bound to figure it out eventually.

Keep posted.
